The history of infant schools in Great Britain began in 1816, when the first infant school was founded in New Lanark, Scotland. It was followed by other philanthropic infant schools across Great Britain. Infant teaching came to include moral education, exercise and an authoritative but friendly teacher. Infant schools increased the education many children received before leaving school to work. State-funded schools in England and Wales were advised in 1840 to include infant departments. Infant education came under pressure to achieve quick academic progress, notably through rote learning. Beginning in 1905, infant lessons in England and Wales shifted towards more child-centred methods of teaching, where education was meant to reflect the preferences of children. The child-centred approach reached its peak following a report in 1967. In 1988, a more centralised curriculum was introduced. The term "infant department" was used widely in Scotland in the 1960s but is no longer much used there. (Full article...)

SpaceX CRS-20

SpaceX CRS-20, also known as SpX-20, was a Commercial Resupply Services mission to the International Space Station launched on March 7 2020 and was the final flight of Dragon 1. The mission was contracted by NASA and was flown by SpaceX. The CRS-20 was the final flight before the first use of Dragon 2 and was the end of the phase 1 missions. CRS-20 used Dragon capsule C112, which previously flew to the ISS on CRS-10 and CRS-16 and was launched aboard Falcon 9 from the Cape Canaveral Space Launch Complex 40. CRS-20 arrived at the ISS on March 9 2020 and was captured by the station's robotic arm, the last capture of the Dragon spacecraft. The CRS-20 mission carried 1977 kg (4358 lbs) of cargo to the ISS.

Future candidates: Bloody Sunday (1965) (a stub as of February 28, 2004)

Today 'Bloody Sunday (1965)' redirects to Selma to Montgomery marches, a fairly decent article on the events of the series of march attempts, including the first. I'd like to see it on selected anniversaries, especially this year for the 40th anniversary. (I'd fit it in, but the page is locked.) -- ke4roh 17:57, Mar 4, 2005 (UTC)

I'm a law student (doing intellectual property no less) and even I don't think this is important enough to be here! Mangostar (talk) 03:59, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Napoleon's Title

[edit]

As pointed out by Shipman7 on Talk:March 7, Napoleon Bonaparte did not crown himself Napoleon I until he became emporer, which happened on December 2, 1804, according to the Napoleon I of France article. Kentholke (talk) 19:44, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
